Marketing with YouTube

A surprising tool for Social Media that you may have not considered, is YouTube. This is typically considered just a site where people post funny videos, but in reality YouTube is the fourth most popular website on the internet, and ranks only behind Facebook as the most popular Social Media site.

So how do you capture some of that traffic for your business?

Videos almost always rank higher with the Search Engines than any other Social Media article. So when posting on a blog, writing an article or sending a tweet..if you can link to a video the search “bots” will value it more highly.

To begin with, when you are setting up your account, you must choose the correct Account type. Do not go with the default option, but instead look through the niches available and choose one that best represents your market.

After you have set up the account, focus on a particular field or niche. Posting 100 videos on 100 topics will not define you as an authority on any of them.

Be sure to tag your videos properly and with the appropriate keywords. You want the search engines to find your videos as easily as possible.

Once your account is set up properly and you have begun posting, you need to get noticed. Be sure to provide links and “Share It” icons to your pertinent videos on any blog, Facebook page, Twitter page or Hub page that you post.

You can actually add in an advertisement that moves from the bottom of the video up to the top. This is a great and un-obtrusive tool for providing links or other information about your video or product.

Another marketing oportunity that YouTube provides to you is in the comments section. When you view videos that are similar to yours, post a comment about it in the section provided. Do NOT trash talk the other video, just make a comment and viewers interested in the topic MAY click on your profile to view your videos.

Just as all other Social Media tools, YouTube will not do any good for you if you do not promote it. SImply loading a bunch of videos and waiting for a response is a waste of time. Add links to your blogs, talk about the videos on twitter and Facebook, link to them in Hubpages, add them to Squidoo lenses. With just a little extra effort, your videos have the potential to drive massive traffic to your website.
